MDT Israel, a leading manufacturer of precision diamond burs for dental and industrial applications, partnered with Ax-Pack to evaluate our low-drop visual counting machine for their high-value, delicate components. The test involved counting and packing their small, fragile diamond-coated burs, which require damage-free handling to preserve the abrasive tips.

The challenge was to achieve 100% counting accuracy while eliminating tip breakage during the packaging process, a critical issue with traditional high-fall counting systems. Our solution leveraged the low-drop height design, combined with high-speed CCD vision technology, to gently count each component without compromising product integrity.

During the trial, the machine processed batches of 100–500 pieces, achieving an accuracy rate of 99.98% with zero reported damage to the diamond-coated tips. The optimized vibration feeding system ensured smooth, single-file presentation of the tiny parts to the camera, while the low-fall chute minimized impact forces on the abrasive surfaces. The system also supported customizable batch counts and quick changeovers for different bur sizes.

MDT’s quality control team verified that the packaging met their requirements for traceability and precision, confirming the machine’s suitability for their high-precision components. This successful trial demonstrates Ax-Pack’s ability to address the unique challenges of counting fragile, high-value industrial parts, offering a reliable solution for manufacturers seeking both accuracy and product protection in small-batch packing.
